To give a glimpse of the real heart of what happens at 14 Moves, we are recognizing an “Agent of The Month” from one of our franchised teams. For without our amazing agents, we wouldn’t be in existence. Here is September 2018’s winner – Mershawn Pikus. Mershawn works with the 14 Moves Goerss Team with Keller Williams Premier Realty in Forest Lake, MN.
What did you do before real estate?
I was part owner of a developer/general contractor business building town homes, single family and condominiums until the 2008 Market crash. After that, I worked as an Admin Assistant for a medical clinic. Seeing that the real estate market was rebounding, I wanted to get back into real estate and try my hand at “traditional” sales. After interviewing with a few brokers, I found out Barb Goerss was looking for a buyer specialist. Living in Forest Lake and knowing that Barb had been a professional in the the business for quite some time, it was a no brainer to learn from the best.
What attracted you to joining a team?
The team concept has been a life saver for me. If I am unable to meet with a client, I have many other well qualified agents that can assist. I like knowing that I can do the same for them also.
What do you enjoy about the team you are on?
Our Forest Lake team is a group of well established agents that work well off of one another. We all truly respect each other and enjoy working together. We have a great mix of talent and past experiences to get through any scenario that comes our way.
What is your favorite part about being in real estate?
Real Estate affords me flexibility in my schedule and provides diversity. No day is the same as the last.
What advice would you share for someone looking to get into real estate?
My advice to anyone considering real estate is to treat it as a professional business. You are the owner of that business and failure or success is up to you.
What other interests do you have outside of real estate?
My family! My husband and I are blessed with two children, 6 grandchildren (another on the way) and two grand dogs. We built a home on the South Shore of Lake Superior and are finally using it to play rather than just working all the time. We also make it a point to visit our out of town family every few months so that we only miss a few of our grandchildren’s milestones. Lastly, my husband has been treating me to a fall European vacation for my last three birthdays.
What is a fun fact people may not know about you?
Fun fact that people may not know is that I donated a kidney to my cousin in 2005. More people should consider being a donor.
Anything else you’d like to share?
My motto: Work hard, Play hard!
Congratulations to Mershawn on being a great example, a true team player, a mentor to others, and someone that is a shining example of how to provide great service to clients. We are so proud of all that you do!
